Introduction to the CPF

Introduction from the Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party, Baroness Warsi

In January 2011, the Conservative Policy Forum was re-launched in Birmingham. This was a special moment for the Conservative family.

With its new team and improved structure, the CPF says something really important about the way our party operates. It makes clear to every Conservative Member that no matter who you are, where you live, or what your experience of politics is, in our Party you will have a strong voice about the issues that matter for Britain – and your voice will be heard and will count.

To bring this point home, we had a fantastic group of speakers lined up for the CPF seminar – including the Minister for Government Policy, Oliver Letwin. As Oliver explained in his speech, we need, as a Party, to look ahead to the future challenges that Britain will face in 2015, 2020 and beyond. And that’s where the CPF comes in.

Over the next five years, the CPF is going to have a big role to play in our Party. This is a real opportunity for a fantastic exchange of ideas. Thanks to the new CPF structure, there’s a straight line which goes from your constituency to Conservative Ministers in Government. With just one e-mail or one conversation in your constituency CPF group, your idea could be on its way to Whitehall.

Oliver and I are going to keep you updated on the CPF’s work over the coming months. You will also be hearing from representatives of the CPF teams directly. And if you want to get more involved and find out how you can contribute, just drop an e-mail to cpf@conservatives.com.
