The CPF was delighted to participate in this weekends’ Conservative Councillors Association conference in Warwick. Despite the bad weather, the conference was extremely well attended and involved some interesting and thought provoking discussions and debates.
The CPF stand at the event was busy throughout with real interest from Councillors throughout the Country on getting more members involved within our policy discussion. We are also delighted to report that several names came forward for new Champions and the CPF will be contacting these individuals in the coming weeks.
The CPF’s National Director, Hannah David also chaired the CPF workshop sessions at the conference on the topic: "The future of localism: developing smarter and more effective services for local government". The esteemed panel included Marcus Jones MP (Party vice-chairman for Local Government), Cllr Mark Hawthorne MBE (Leader of Gloucestershire County Council) and Cllr Morris Bright MBE (Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council). The debate covered issues of working across administrative boundaries and council tiers to provide joint services (Jones), re-shaping public services in a post Brexit environment (Hawthorne) and Localism in practice through Local Business (Bright).
The CPF would like to thank its panellists, Cllr Rory Love (CCA Chairman) and all the organisers, for such a successful and enjoyable event.
