Thank you to the members across 136 constituencies who submitted responses to the policy discussion that the CPF held on the cost of living in the spring of this year. This was a broad-ranging and, therefore, difficult paper to discuss, but it was clearly worthwhile and some excellent ideas emerged.
We are pleased to publish detailed responses from the Secretaries of State in the Department for Education and Department for Communities and Local Government:
- Further to the CPF's relatively recent engagement with the DCLG, the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP begins his response, "Once again, I find myself grateful for, and indebted to, the CPF for the excellent recommendations which have been forthcoming in their recent piece of work on living standards. I was struck by how so many of the ideas went beyond home ownership, the traditional domain of Conservative Party policy, and recognised that we must fight on multiple fronts if we are to fix our broken housing market."
- On behalf of the Education Department, the Rt Hon Justice Greening MP concludes, "It is clear that everybody who has contributed to your policy paper has aims squarely in line with the Government's Plan for Britain" and highlights several of the CPF's suggestions that her department intends to address imminently.
If we are able to secure any additional responses from other Ministers in due course, we will of course publish these too.
