John studied genetics at Cambridge University for six years before embarking on a career in international development that saw him work abroad for almost a decade. John founded a successful adult learning institute in one of the former Soviet republics and for several years led a Cambridge-based think tank. He has managed the CPF since February 2016, running its nationwide policy discussion programme and raising the Forum's profile.
He has been an active campaigner with the Conservative Party since 2004 and stood in 2017 as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge. Through the work of the Party's International Department and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, he helps to promote greater inclusion and transparency in the political systems of newly-emerging and developing democracies.
