About the Event
What is British Culture and Art today ? In 1989, Francis Bacon befriended the young Myles-Lea and took the artist under his wing. Art and Culture, by nature, is a subjective field and some would say it’s hard to define what does and does not constitute art today. Some people will tell you that a simple TV commercial is art while others would argue that “real” art is something much deeper. Are we destroying British Art and Culture and how could we support it through Government Policy ? Please do join us for a discussion on this fascinating subject.
This discussion will be led by Jonathan Myles-Lea. Jonathan is recognised as the leading painter of portraits of country houses and gardens in the United Kingdom. His clients include HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH Queen Paola of Belgium, Princess Salimah Aga-Khan, David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley. The Myles-Lea's archive is in the process of being acquired by The Bodleian Library at The University of Oxford and he has been a guest lecturer at Harvard Business School in Boston.
